a Rider-Waite Tarot deck, if you have one, and if you don't, we'll have plenty to share. We find that this classic, popular deck is the best choice for those just starting out. It is easy to interpret but also has depth. Many other decks are influenced by it, so familiarity with it will also give you a foundation for working with others. Sacred Paths carries this deck for $18.00. If you would like to have your own deck, you might choose to purchase one there. |
What we will provide:
| * |
Hot water and tea—compliments of Sacred Paths.
|
*
|
Rider-Waite decks, which you are welcome to borrow during the workshop.
|
| * |
a binder that includes an interpretation of each of the 78 cards, and other helpful information to get you started. |
Our Philosophy:
Traditionally the Tarot has been used as a fortune telling system. In this workshop, we will not teach you how to use the cards to make predictions but rather we will show you how to use the Tarot to shed light on your choices and to empower you to determine the direction your life will take.
Goals for the Class:
Learning to read the cards on one's own can be overwhelming. There are 78 cards in the deck, which is a lot to get familiar with! While a one-day workshop
isn't enough to get you a reading like a pro, it is perfect for setting you on a path and giving you all the tools you will need.
At the end of the day you will
- understand the structure of the deck.
- understand the nature of the four suits: Swords, Wands, Cups, and Pentacles.
- have a basic understanding of the numerological principles of Tarot.
- be introduced to the "personalities" of the court cards.
- have the basic tools to be able to interpret any card from the deck without needing to look it up in a book.
- be able to ask an effective question for the Tarot.
- begin practicing one, two and three-card readings.
- have resources to further develop your skills and knowledge of the Tarot.
